Per-IDE cycle funnels for VS Code, Rider, and Visual Studio.
How to read IDE cycle funnels
Each funnel shows progression through expected lifecycle stages. Use the definitions on the right to interpret stage transitions consistently.
- Success = users who reached the stage.
- Not Progressed = users present in the previous stage but missing in the current stage.
- Abandoned = users who started a cycle but did not reach the next expected stage in the same cycle window.

Research-backed patterns
VS Code generally starts with a larger active IDE base and stronger preference momentum than Visual Studio (Stack Overflow 2024 IDE usage/desire: usage, desired). AI tools are mainstream and can improve flow completion where integrated well (Stack Overflow 2024 AI tools: link; JetBrains Dev Ecosystem 2024 AI section: link; GitHub Octoverse AI/agents trend: link).
